About Us:

Coastal Boat Rentals is an all new and innovative Boat Rental company situated in the heart of the Garden Route, Knysna. Whether it be for a day on the water or your holiday away, we have the right boat for you needs. Clients can either pick up the boat at our warehouse in Knysna Industrial, or request a delivery of a boat to your holiday destination. Skiing in Knysna, fishing on the mighty Breede river or a pleasure cruise in Stillbay, we can deliver your boat to any location requested. All our boats are certified and surveyed by SAMSA and come fully equipped with all the necessary safety equipment. We have a variety of water toys, wakeboards, wakeskates, slalom ski and tubes on offer for rental.

No Skippers license? No Problem! Coastal Boat Rentals has a variety of boats up to 15hp for those with no Skippers license. Kayaks and SUP’s are also available for rent.

We are always open to suggestions from our clients, and we strive to make your boating experience as comfortable and relaxing as can be.

Terms and Conditions Apply. All watersports equipment is subject to availability. The hirer indemnifies Coastal Boat Rentals from any/all loss or/and injury, and exempts Coastal Boat Rentals from an obligation or liability imposed on themselves or others.

Frequently Asked Questions.

What is the deposit amount?

A deposit is required via EFT, credit card/debit card or cash for insurance purposes. When you return the hired boat, trailer, safety equipment, life jackets and accessories in good order, the deposit (ONLY once it reflects in our account) will be refunded within 7 working days after the boat is returned.

Does the rental amount include petrol?

On collection of the hired boat, you will receive the boat with FULL fuel tanks and it is company policy for the client to return the tanks with full tanks of fuel. In the case of fuel tanks not being filled upon returning the rented boat, Coastal Boat Rentals holds the right to charge the client a fuel fee of R25 p/liter used, these charges will be deducted from the clients deposit.

Who can rent your boats?

Anyone with a SAMSA Skipper license can rent a boat with more than 15HP.
We do have boats with 15HP or less for the clients without skippers licenses.

What are your operating hours?

From 08:00 am to 17:00 pm, later deliveries or collections, only by prior arrangements.

Coastal Boat Rentals is based in Knysna, 6 Waenhout Street, Knysna Industrial.

What documents do I need to provide?

Proof of Skippers Ticket
Proof of Identity (ID Book or Passport)
Drivers Licence (If a client wants to tow the boat to a designated area)

Can I fish from a hired boat?

Yes, of course, BUT make sure you know what the correct season is for all species. Do not get caught with illegal fish or crayfish – you will be prosecuted by marine authorities.
Poaching & Impounding Policy: Please note that Coastal Boat Rentals condemns any sort of poaching and you as the client will be held legally and bindingly responsible for all/any costs incurred if you are found guilty of any illegal poaching activities. The client will be held financially accountable in full if one of our vessels are impounded or any fines are incurred; you as the client will also be financially liable in the event that one of our boats are impounded and will be liable to pay, as per your rental agreement, for each day until the boat is returned to Coastal Boat Rentals. Please note that as a client or hirer of our boats, we DO NOT provide you or your passengers with the appropriate fishing or bait licenses. You will have to do all necessary applications on your own at your closest Post Office or Fishing/Marine Institution. If you have any questions or need some advice, please feel free to contact us.

Can I tow on a gravel road?

Yes, it is permitted, though, ONLY once the client and a Coastal Boat Rentals Representative have fully inspected the boat and trailer, including all brackets, supports and mountings; and all parties find the asset in a roadworthy condition; the boat hirer will sign and acknowledge that he/she is entirely responsible to return the boat, trailer and equipment in the condition it was received, thus, verifies that he/she will be held accountable for all/any loss or damage.
